San Diego International Airport (SAN) in the US has selected global digital security and identification firm Identiv to strengthen its access control ecosystem.
As part of the contract between the companies, Identiv deployed its Hirsch Velocity Software and its Velocity Vision video management system (VMS).
Under a single graphical user interface (GUI), the company incorporated both systems as a sub-segment into access control and the surveillance infrastructure of the airport.
According to Identiv, the integrated solution leverages real-time intelligence in an open platform to offer complete situational awareness on a single glass pane view.

“Velocity Vision has the ability to leverage existing systems, especially with credentialing and vetting, offering a full end-to-end solution that meets all their current and future needs.”
Identiv will send its local value-added reseller to install the VMS, which will provide real-time situational awareness to SAN.
The Velocity Vision is claimed to support thousands of camera models at an API level and integrates with more than 15,000 ONVIF-compliant solutions.
SAN has been using Identiv’s Hirsch physical access control system (PACS) for more than a decade and deployed Velocity Vision following its launch in 2021.
San Diego International Airport aviation security and public safety senior systems support analyst Arick Conley said: “We were looking for a complete solution that didn’t require the addition of a third-party application on top of the ACS and VMS environments.
“The integration of Velocity and the VMS components provided in Velocity Vision will allow us to accomplish this, increasing the effectiveness of our security operations.”
